Choosing a Roofing Contractor for your project is an important decision. Selecting an unlicensed roofer may be tempting but beware, that decision could very easily turn into one that you regret.
A roofer must have liability insurance and workers comp insurance covering all the employees in order to keep the license active. Without an active license, roofing contractors cannot obtain permits. If you have people doing work on your property that are not covered by workers comp insurance and one of them gets injured could result in dire consequences for you.
Quality of work could be a problem, if something is not done correctly you will have no recourse to get the problem corrected. Manufacturers will probably not honor warranties on products that were not installed correctly.
These pictures are of a roof that was installed by an unlicensed roofer and no permit obtained. The roof, only about 4 years old, was leaking in many areas do to the poor workmanship. The entire roofing system had failed and had to be removed and replaced.
